Directions to Home Birth Kauai
491
Kamalu Road in Wailua Homesteads
From Lihue and the south ~ Take
Kuhio Highway to Wailua Beach. At the stoplight, go left onto Kuamoo
Road, also known as 580. Just past the Wailua Country Store, turn right
onto 581, Kamalu Road. Go past the soccer fields on your right, then
after about 1/10 of a mile, look for a two-lane driveway on the left.
It is marked by a telephone pole with blue reflectors on it and the
numbers 491. This double driveway is just before the road begins to
curve to the right (if you miss this driveway you will get to a
one-lane bridge, turn around and come back!). Turn left into the double
driveway and then make an immediate right between the two lava rock
pillars with the number 491 halfway down the left pillar. Down that
long driveway is the house; please park anywhere on the grass. Welcome!
From Kilauea and the north ~ From
Kuhio Highway, take either the Kapaa Bypass road to the roundabout and
go mauka (toward the mountains) up Olohena Road, or take Lehua or Kukui
Street onto Olohena Road, at the north end of Kapaa (at the blue dragon
building). Follow Olohena Road up past Kapaa Middle School, stay to the
left on Olohena Road at the three-way intersection, then follow the
curvy road until you come to your first real left turn, called 581 or
Kamalu Road. Make a left onto Kamalu Road. Go straight until you come
to a one-lane bridge. Go across the bridge and around the curve and,
after the curve, look on your right for a two-lane driveway that is
marked by a telephone pole with blue reflectors on it and the
numbers 491. Make a right into that double driveway
and then an immediate right between the two lava rock pillars with
the number 491 halfway down the left pillar. Down that long driveway is
the house; please park anywhere on the grass. Welcome!
